Application procedures information

Thank you for your interest in the advertised position.

Council receives numerous applications each time it places a position vacant advertisement. In order to assist in the processing of applications, Council has developed a basic application form, which all applicants are required to complete. In completing the application form you are asked to abide by the following simple instructions:

 

Part A         Personal Details

Please complete all details and provide a contact telephone number so that Council may contact you during working hours, should you be successful in gaining an interview.

 

Part B/C     Essential and Desirable Criteria

 Please complete each section. In Part B you are required to demonstrate how you meet each of the essential criteria outlined in the job specification.

If the essential criteria can be demonstrated by providing written documentation such as educational qualifications or current job descriptions, you should attach copies to your application. Where the essential criteria cannot be demonstrated with written evidence, you are required to explain how you meet the criteria.

In Part C, desirable criteria, you are required to explain how your experience, knowledge or qualifications meet the desirable criteria. In this case, supporting documentation, i.e. certificates or job descriptions may also be supplied if necessary.

If the position specification does not specify desirable criteria, you should leave blank.

If there is not sufficient room on the application form to complete Parts B and C, you may attach additional pages. However, Parts B and C must be completed on the application form. If you wish to use a word processor, you can substitute Part B. Merely writing “please see attached resume” will not be sufficient. Failure to do so will result in your application not being considered.

 

Part D        Employment History

Please list information about your current and past employment, including temporary, part-time and voluntary work starting with the most recent.

Part E        Education

Please provide details of Tertiary and/or Secondary education you have completed or are currently undertaking. You may be asked to provide the original qualifications or course transcript at a later stage.

Please provide details of any other training or professional development you have completed that is relevant to this position.

 

Part F/G    Licences/Professional Membership/References and Referees

Please provide details of any licences or professional memberships that you currently hold.

Please provide current details of at least two referees who may be contacted to verify your work history.

Please note all application forms are to be signed and dated. Failure to complete the above procedure will result in your application not being considered.

 

Part H        Application Declaration

(as per Application Form).

A copy of your resume should also be attached, however, do not attach any original documents, i.e. certificates, references etc.

Your co-operation in completing the application form in this manner is appreciated.

Interviews are held approximately two to three weeks after the job closes and if you are successful in gaining an interview, you will be contacted by telephone or by letter if you are unable to be contacted. If you are unsuccessful in securing an interview you will be advised that your application was unsuccessful after interviews have been completed and an appointment made.

Internal unsuccessful applicants have the right to appeal. A preliminary offer of employment may be made to an external applicant following the selection process, but no formal offer will be made until the appeals process has been finalised and a pre-employment medical completed.
