Community Nursing Service

What is it?

Kiama Council Community Nursing Service provides health care support to clients in their home. The project is staffed by registered nurses who attend to technical procedures, and enrolled nurses and assistants in nursing who are trained to attend to specific tasks.

These services mainly include:

  • medical support such as wound dressings
  • blood pressure checks
  • blood glucose level checks and medication compliance
  • personal care for clients with unstable medical conditions.

Who is it for?

People in the Kiama Local Government Area who are frail, aged, young with a disability - and their carers, are eligible for the community nursing service.

Process of referral

The prospective client, their medical practitioner, a carer, a hospital or other agency can make referrals. Once a referral has been accepted, the coordinator will arrange a time to conduct an assessment of the person's needs.
